A Peer Visitor is an amputee that can truly understand and relate to the challenges and fears of our amputee patients, and it is their primary goal to reduce the anxiety levels of new amputees. Click here to learn more about peer visitors.

Amputee Support Groups

We believe that amputee support groups should be fun, social events! The Amputee in Action group is an amputee support group that meets every few months for activities like horseback riding, bowling and ice skating. Without a doubt, our biggest event of the year is the Airborne Amputees skydiving event where over a hundred amputees have signed up to skydive!

For more information on our Airborne Amputees event visit the website. To join Amputees in Action or find out more about upcoming events visit the website.

Patient  Advocate

From the moment you are contacted by the Amputee and Prosthetic Center you are assigned your own Patient Advocate who will assist with whatever your needs may be. When we asked amputees what they were lacking in previous prosthetic care, we heard the same answer over and over again: the need to be heard. Patient Advocates have been trained to assist amputees throughout all phases of care, whether an amputee needs assistance in obtaining an appointment for physical therapy or wound care.  We are here for you.  If an amputee needs assistance with assistive living devices or if you’d like to meet with a fellow amputee to learn firsthand about what it’s like to be an amputee, we are here to help.  Read More
